Chiquita arrived as a question mark.

She was terrified of everything: sounds, movement, shadows, kindness. Malnourished, shut down, and braced for a world that had never been gentle with her, she didn't know how to be a dog yet. What she did know was how to survive.

What followed was time. Patience. Routine. Safety. And love given without conditions or deadlines.

Little by little, Chiquita emerged. Fear softened into curiosity. Caution into play. The dog who once shrank from the world grew into one who watches it closely, thoughtfully—then charges into it with joy when she decides it's safe. She is affectionate, expressive, hilarious, stubborn, and deeply loyal. A survivor who learned how to trust, and then chose to love fully.

Chiquita reminds me every day that healing isn't linear, and that progress doesn't need to be loud to be real. She is proof that given space and care, even the most frightened hearts can learn to shine.

She is my constant companion now, my studio assistant, my taste-tester's supervisor, and my reminder to slow down and pay attention. Like Epona, she shapes how I create, how I work, and how I live.
